New Alterlite

Welcome to New Alterlite, the next generation modpack designed for our community. The name New Alterlite comes from a wordplay on the words Alternative and Light, as the modpack focuses to be a lightweight alternative to it's predecessor modpack Zeon's Techpack.

Features

Unlike it's predecessor, New Alterlite is actually pretty lightweight despite it having quite a number of mods. The reason behind this is because New Alterlite is built upon a collection of multiple smaller mods that don't take up too much memory in the game. Most 1.12.2 modpacks take at least 10 minutes to load because of how heavy they are, but New Alterlite boasts a fast loading time of only roughly 4 minutes to finish loading on a mid-end computer!

The recommended amount of RAM allocation for playing on this modpack is 2GB to 4GB, unlike most other 1.12.2 modpacks that require at least 6GB allocated to even launch. New Alterlite has been tested and is amazingly even playable on 1GB of RAM, however the performance is pretty poor as one might expect from such a low amount of allocated RAM for a modded minecraft instance.

New Alterlite utilizes the custom advancements system and replaces the vanilla ones with advancements that can assist the player in progressing the pack. They are of course completely optional and you don't have to follow them, but they are there to assist you in times where you get bored and don't know what to do.

Why bother adding every single tech mod there is out there when they all pretty much do the same thing? In New Alterlite, only a selection of carefully handpicked mods are in this modpack to make things more interesting.

You first start out with moderately primitive technology and slowly progress over to Immersive Engineering. Then eventually you start working your way up to more higher tier technologies such as Thermal Dynamics, Industrial Foregoing and even Compact Machines.

New Alterlite also features an optional storyline you can follow that introduces the lore around the modpack's universe. To get started, just open the book you were given when you first spawn and start going through the quests. If for any reason you lose your quest book just craft another when you can!

Unlike most modpacks out there, New Alterlite is designed with having the mindset of being able to play peacefully without needing to turn peaceful mode on. Just set your difficulty to easy and mobs won't attack you unless you attack them first.

When exploring the world, try scouting different villages to see what items they offer to trade, or wait for travelling merchants to approach your base and trade with them. Also, when mining underground, try to see if you can hear a familiar sound and you might just encounter an archaeologist villager that has made their home underground or a lost miner that wants you to help them get back to the surface.

The predecessor of New Alterlite was focused and built to be more of a singleplayer modpack due to technical complications at the time. New Alterlite on the other hand is built for you to be able to play together with your friends or a group of people.

If you want to play on stable releases, you can get our modpack from Curse if you're using the Twitch App, it's as easy as 123. Otherwise, if you want to play on the less-stable bleeding edge development releases and help us test it before it goes live, you can download builds directly from this page and import it to a MultiMC instance.

(Currently not yet available on curse as we have yet to release a stable build.)

By playing on an unstable in-development build, you are essentially testing the build along with us. In the event of problems, glitches, crashes or world corruptions, please send crash logs and as much information as possible on what happened prior to the problem/crash/corruption on our project's issue tracker, it is much appreciated.

Each new build may or may not be more stable than a previous one. Things and mechanics may change at any time, and they might be a minor change or breaking major change. You automatically agree that any loss of data, progress and precious items due to a change in mechanic is your own responsibility. Do not complain to us that you lost half of your base because of an update that removed a mod that you used to decorate your base with.
